The Victorian Kendo Renmei Incorporated (VKR) is a non-profit Incorporated Association registered in Australia that is a member of the Australian Kendo Renmei (AKR).
The AKR grew from the beginning of Kendo in Australia in the 1960s, is a founding member of the International Kendo Federation (FIK) and remains affiliated to the FIK.
The AKR is recognised by the FIK as the governing body for Kendo, ZNKR Iaido and ZNKR Jodo in Australia.
The AKR is the peak body in Australia representing the arts of Kendo, ZNKR Iaido and ZNKR Jodo. It exists to provide governance, education and promotion of the arts as well as supporting its affiliates and being the interface between the arts, the International Kendo Federation and the public.
Rishin Kan Budo members that are members of the AKR are eligible to apply for internationally recognised AKR grades and can attend AKR events and seminars from visiting Japanese Sensei.
Students can also attend the annual National Iaido & Jodo seminar and Championship. This event is one week of training by visiting high ranking Japanese Sensei. The event held in a different Australian State every year.
